Dr Marc Garneau has been appointed to the board of directors of UTS Energy Corp, Calgary, a major player in the development of Alberta's s oil sands. Garneau was formerly president of the Canadian Space Agency before leaving to make a failed bid at politics as a Liberal candidate in the riding of Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
