Dr Kelly McNagny has been appointed co-scientific director of the Centre for Drug Research and Development (CDRD) alongside Dr Michael Rudnicki. McNagny, a professor of medical genetics and co-director of the Biomedical Research Centre at the Univ of British Columbia, replaces Dr Michael Underhill who was also CDRD's division chair for target validation. He brings expertise in stem cell biology and has worked on several CDRD projects in the past. McNagny holds a PhD in cellular immunology from the Univ of Alabama at Birmingham, at which time he also worked at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. His post doctoral studies were conducted at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg Germany....
Industry Canada has announced two new directors to the board of the Canada Foundation for Innovation. Lynda Brown-Ganzert is founder and CEO of Curatio, the developer of a mobile technology that connects patients to each other and to health professionals. A digital media expert, Brown-Ganzert has founded several startups and held executive positions at Edelman and Nordicity. She was also president of the New Media BC industry association (now DigiBC). She holds a masters of education and bachelor of arts (communications) from Simon Fraser Univ. Prem Singhmar is a farmer and real estate developer with a medical education. Prior to emigrating to Canada from India in 1985, Singhmar obtained a bachelor of medicine and surgery degree from Government Medical College in Srinagar and a master of surgery from the Ophthalmology Medical College in Rohtak.....
