Dr Francois Baylis and Hubert Gauthier have been appointed to the governing council of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). Baylis is an associate professor at Dalhousie Univ’s Faculty of Medicine (Office of Bioethics Education) and has extensive experience in health care ethics and policy. She holds a PhD in philosophy with a specialization in medical ethics from the Univ of Western Ontario. In addition to her new appointment, she is a member of CIHR’s ad hoc working group on stem cell research. Gauthier is president and CEO of St Boniface General Hospital and has extensive experience in health policy, health care delivery and health care management.
