Dr David Bailey has been appointed Genome Alberta's first permanent president and CEO, replacing Dr Randy Johnston who headed the centre on an interim basis. Bailey comes to Genome Alberta from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) where he held several senior positions in the research branch. They include director of AAFC's research centres in Charlottetown and Lacombe AB. In 2003, he was appointed DG and directed national research programs in food safety, quality and processing at AAFC's 11 food-related research centres across Canada. Bailey received a PhD in genetics and animal breeding from the Univ of Alberta. Over his 20-year career, he authored 66 peer reviewed articles and conducted over 300 technology transfer activities….
