Dr Carrie Bourassa has been appointed scientific director of the CIHR Institute of Aboriginal People’s Health. Bourassa is chair of the Northern & Indigenous Health at the Sudbury ON-based Health Sciences North Research Institute. She takes up her duties as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research increases its investments in Indigenous health research and implements a series of actions aimed at strengthening its relationship with First Nations, Inuit and Metis people. She has spent the past 15 years as a professor of Indigenous health studies at the First Nations University of Canada in Regina. Bourassa holds a MS in political science and a PhD in social studies from the Univ of Regina….
