Daniel Friedman is stepping down as CEO of MacDonald Dettwiler & Associates Ltd after 21 years at the helm. He is being replaced by US-based Howard Lance, former CEO of Harris Corp. The change in the top spot is intended to help MDA expand in the US market. Lance comes to MDA from Blackstone Group's private equity business where he was executive advisor. While at Harris, he grew the company to a market capitalization of nearly $10 billion, with 22,000 employees in 125 countries. Friedman is ceding his position effective May 16 while remaining on the board of directors. During his tenure at MDA, Friedman took the firm from a private held maker of satellite ground systems to a globally focused satellite communications and information company with revenue of $2 billion and 4800 staff in 11 primarily North American locations….
