CIHR teams with foundation to fund children's IBD research

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) has established a partnership with the Foundation for Children with Intestinal and Liver Disorders (CHILD) to create a national research network and data platform aimed at finding a cure for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in children. The Canadian Children Inflammatory Bowel Disease Network has launched a $5-million competition with the aim of creating a network of at least five centres of pediatric IBD research expertise across the country. The goal is to give young patients the benefit derived from a coordinated approach from health care professionals and research scientists. The British Columbia government provided CHILD with a grant that allows them to partner in an area of health research that's considered severely underfunded.
