China promotes increased S&T trade with Canada

China's latest five-year plan emphasizing scientific innovation and sustainable development offers "huge potentials for the win-win cooperation between China and Canada", says China's ambassador to Canada, Zhang Junsai. Speaking before the Ottawa branch of the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association, Junsai said the 12 Five-Year Plan aims to close the gaps China now experiences with developed countries in the areas of value-add and S&T's contribution to the economy. He singled out Canadian expertise in managing high-tech manufacturing, new materials, green energy technology, biomedicine, pharmaceuticals and financial services as areas in which Canada can increase collaboration and trade with China. Last June, the leaders of both countries agreed to increase bilateral trade volume to US$60 billion from $37.2 billion in 2010....
