CFI invests $24.3M in 38 Canadian universities

The Canada Foundation for Innovation has awarded $18.7 million under its New Opportunities Fund and $5.6 million from its Infrastructure Operating Fund to support 124 infrastructure projects at 38 universities. The $24.3-million investment includes infrastructure for a communications research laboratory at the Univ of Alberta, a space instrument test laboratory at York Univ, and an advanced geo-environmental engineering laboratory at Dalhousie Univ for petroleum waste management technologies. The New Oppor- tunities Fund enables universities to provide infrastructure for newly recruited faculty members, while the Infrastructure Operating Fund helps universities offset operating and maintenance costs associated with new infrastructure projects….
