CAE snares funds to develop new simulation system

CAE Inc has received $39 million in assistance from Technology Partnerships Canada launch a $130-million project to develop new simulation architecture for military aircraft training. The new system will allow multiple crews and multiple training devices to be connected over long distances through secure Internet or intranet links.The Montreal-based firm will undertake two distinct projects: Network Tactical Training Solutions and Networked Synthetic Crew Station. Both will be conducted at CAE’s military simulation and training division is Saint-Laurent. An estimated $8 million in subcontracts will be awarded during the projects’ R&D phases. In FY01, CAE spent $122.3 million on R&D, down 3.3% from FY00....
