Cabinet shuffle stalls Alberta institute expert panel report

The proposed Alberta Institute for Applied Research and Technology Commercialization has hit a snag. A report from an expert panel struck last October to advise the provincial government on the institute's structure, governance and implementation is being held up due to a change in ministries and ministers. The report of the expert panel —chaired by Dr Daniel Roos, president of Belmont, MA-based University Ventures International — was delivered to the Ministry of Enterprise and Advanced Education but it was replaced by the Ministry of Innovation and Advanced Education in a December 7th Cabinet shuffle. The report will not be released until the new ministry and minister decide how to proceed with the expert panel's advice and the institute's formation….
