Banff math research station gets $10.3 million for renewal

The Banff International Research Station (BIRS) for mathematics has received $10.3 million in renewal funding from its North American backers. The largest amount comes from the US National Science Foundation ($3.68 million), followed by Alberta Advanced Education and Technology ($3.4 million) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council ($3.25 million). The Mexican partner — Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnologia — did not provide funding. The Banff centre provides a secluded environment for intense interaction between scientists from the participating countries....
