The Rhodiola Commercialization Project has received $741,000 over three years from AVAC Ltd to develop the rhodiola plant as a commercial crop in Alberta. The plant contains compounds that help reduce stress, resist fatigue, boost brain functions and improve the immune, nervous and glandular systems and has been used by Olympic athletes and Russian cosmonauts. The project follows a three-year study by the Alberta Agriculture and Food to determine whether the crop is commercially viable in the province.
