AHFMR honors premiers with two new awards

The Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research (AHFMR) has created two new awards as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations. The two $100,000 awards are being named in honour of former Alberta premier Peter Lougheed and premier Ralph Klein to recognize their contributions to the Foundation. The Lougheed Prize will be made annually to a researchers in the area of biomedical or clinical health, while the Klein Prize will recognize a researcher in population and/or applied health. The first prizes will begin in 2006 and 2007 respectively and are open to international competition. The winners must use at least 75% of the money for research....
