Quebec grad students want post doc taxation reversed

The federal government's Budget 2010 decision to tax post doctoral fellowships continues to generate controversy, with two Quebec student associations asking the government to reverse its decision (R$, April 23/10). Quebec students were particularly hard hit by the ruling, which taxes the fellowships retroactively to 2006. The National Council of Graduate Students of Quebec and the Quebec Federation of University Students say postdocs cannot afford to "pay back taxes that were never expected of them in the first place"....
