Ontario renews, funds Social Enterprise Strategy

Ontario has renewed its Social Enterprise Strategy for another five years and will invest more than $6 million in the first year. With the strategy, the province has committed to integrate specialized social entrepreneurship supports, develop a Social Enterprise Procurement Action Plan, design a new Social Venture Investment Fund, establish an Impact Measurement Task Force, pilot at least one Social Impact Bond and establish a Centre of Excellence in Social Enterprise and Social Finance. It's estimated that Ontario is home to more than 10,000 social enterprises with each employing an average of 38 people and generating $1.2 million in revenue. Impact investment has a global market of $80 billion....
