AIMS-Ghana created with $3-million commitment

Saltpond Ghana is the site of the newest African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) following a commitment of $1.5 million by the Ghanian government. The funding will be matched by the Canadian government, Google and Alero Olympio Trust for sustainable architecture. AIMS-Ghana is the third of a planned network of 15 centres across Africa — the centrepiece of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics' Global Outreach Program. The centre is scheduled to open in September, 2012. The federal government has committed $20 million to AIMS (R$, July 19/10)....
