William Owen has been appointed president and CEO of Nortel Networks Corp, replacing Frank Dunn who was terminated for cause on April 28. Owen has a long business and military background, including vice chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff. Since leaving the military in the mid 1990s, he has held executive positions in two technology firms – satellite telecommunications company Teledesic (vice chairman and co-CEO) from 1999 to 2003 and high-tech firm Science Applications International Corp (vice chairman and COO). In other Nortel appointments, William Kerr has been appointed chief financial officer, a position he held since the March/04 suspension of Douglas Beatty. Beatty was also terminated with cause, as was Michael Gollogly, former Nortel controller. He has been replaced by Mary Anne Pahapill….
