V-RQ funds multidisciplinary research projects

Valorization-Recherche Québec (V-RQ) has announced an investment of $20 million in 12 new research projects at universities throughout the province. The investment are part of V-RQ's original mandate to fund multi-disciplinary, multi-sectoral research teams. and were made by five expert committees examining a list of 39 contenders. In Quebec's 2000 Budget, V-RQ was given an additional $120 million to help fund researchers competing for federal program funding. (R$, April 7/00). The awards included funding for projects in mental health, electronic commerce, multimedia, laser technologies and cancer therapies.
