UW signs MOUs with Brazilian research institutions

The Univ of Waterloo has signed memoranda of understanding with two research institutions in Brazil. The MOUs are with Pontifica Universidade Catolica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC), a research-focused university, and National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) , a national institute responsible for promoting science and technology. They will expand upon researcher exchanges, promote scientific events, conferences and seminars in computer science and other disciplines. Exchanges of researchers in computer science date back 45 years and one UW professor — Dr Don Cowan — received the Brazilian National Order of Scientific Merit in 2007 for his contributions to Brazilian computer science….
