UBC launching western Creative Destruction Lab

The Univ of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business is launching a BC version of the Univ of Toronto's Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) to assist young companies in accessing adequate funding for scale-up and growing within the province. Since its inception in 2012, U of T's CDL has generated $800 million in equity value in many start-ups, including Thalmic Labs which has raised US $120 million in one of the largest series B financings in Canadian history. CDL-West will focus on massively scalable high-tech start-ups by providing coaching and access to venture capital. It will accept ventures from universities throughout western Canada and align with existing entrepreneurship programs such as e@UBC and HATCH. A group of entrepreneurs dubbed G7 is responsible for hitting time-based targets with the goal of maximizing a firm's equity value....
