U of T and IBM partner to build supercomputer

The Univ of Toronto has vaulted up the list of the world's most powerful supercomputers with an agreement between IBM and the university's SciNet Consortium to build Canada's most powerful and energy efficient machine. The machine has an innovative hybrid design containing two systems that can work together or independently and is connected to a five petabyte storage complex. Capable of performing 360 trillion calculations per second, it will place U ofT within the top 20 fastest supercomputers globally.
