U of O think tank renamed Smart Prosperity Institute

The Sustainable Prosperity think tank has changed its name to the Smart Prosperity Institute (SPI) and broadened its focus on generating policy-relevant research on clean innovation for the media, government, private sector and general public. Based at the Univ of Ottawa, SPI opted for a name change to reflect its expanded mandate as a national research network and policy think tank. It has five focus areas: accelerating clean innovation, boosting energy and resource efficiency, pricing pollution and waste, investing in advanced infrastructure and skills, and conserving and valuing nature. Among the reports SPI produces are Green Bonds in Canada and Accelerating Clean Innovation across the Economy. SPI's executive director is Mike Wilson, formerly executive director of environmental assessment and marine programs at Environment Canada and one of the principal architects of the government's initiative to create Sector Sustainability Tables for the mining, energy, chemicals and forestry sectors….
