FPInnovations, a not-for-profit doing R&D in the forestry sector, has appointed Stéphane Renou as its new president and CEO effective this month. Renou holds a PhD in chemical engineering and has eight patents to his name. He will replace Pierre Lapointe, who held the position from December 2008. Prior to joining the Pointe-Claire QC-based organization, Renou did R&D for General Electric in the US and Europe. He studied at Univ of Sherbrooke and Polytechnique Montréal and holds two master’s degrees in electrical engineering and business administration (innovation management). Lapointe leaves behind a legacy that has been recognized by the industry, including a citation from the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.
