Research In Motion snaps up Ottawa-based QNX Software

Research In Motion Ltd (RIM) has acquired QNX Software Systems from Harman International, Stamford CT, which acquired the Ottawa-based firm in 2004 for $138 million. RIM is paying $200 million for QNX to strengthen its presence in the automotive sector and other wireless product lines (intelligent peripherals) yet to be announced. QNX develops open platform operating systems for the automotive, industrial, telecommunications, medical, defence and aerospace sectors....
