Quebec’s Tyto Robotics expands marketing with government assistance

Gatineau QC-based Tyto Robotics is embarking on extensive marketing activities in Canada and beyond with the help of funding from the government. The $220,860 grant from the federal and provincial governments will help the technology company to market its instrumentation systems in Canada, the US and Europe. Tyto Robotics’ instruments are used to test the performance of motors of drones and other remote-controlled objects. More than 78% of the funds, or $172,810, was sourced from the Canada Economic Development for Quebec regional agency and the National Research Council’s Industrial Research Assistance Program. The Quebec government will provide the rest of the funds, totaling $48,050, through the export program of the Ministry of Economy Science and Innovation (MESI). The project is also being funded by the InnoExport investment fund. Tyto Robotics, founded in 2014, will use the funds to hire marketing staff, participate in trade shows, conduct advertising and promotional campaigns, join industry associations, and have their products certified. The company is a product of the Univ of Ottawa's three-year incubation program, Startup Garage.
