Peter MacArthur

Peter MacArthur has been appointed DG of the global business opportunities bureau at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. Mac-Arthur was most recently senior trade commissioner at the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo for five years where responsibilities included S&T-based innovation, foreign direct investment, market access and export market development. His new position will focus on the continuing implementation of DFAIT's Global Commerce Strategy and advice on the global competitiveness of Canadian firms. That includes internationalizing the commercialization of R&D by establishing linkages between the domestic innovative community with its foreign counterparts. MacArthur holds an Hon BA from McGill and has studied at Laval Univ and l'Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris. He succeeds Paul Thoppil who is replacing MacArthur in Tokyo….
