Ontario funds RRI's integration with UWO

The Ontario government is providing the Robarts Research Institute (RRI) with $23 million to facilitate its integration with the Univ of Western Ontario (UWO) and purchase new medical research equipment. RRI's decision to formally merge with UWO coincides with the announced departure of Dr Mark Pozansky on April 30 to establish a consulting business. He will be replaced on an interim basis by Dr Cecil Rorabeck, a London ON-based researcher with expertise in hip and knee replacement surgery. Pozansky, co-chair of the Ontario Genomics Institute, led RRI for 14 years, increasing its research funding, recruiting leading scientists and overseeing a major expansion of the institute. As an independent research institute, RRI faced increasing difficulty securing operating funds, precipitating the merger with UWO….
