Ontario doles out funding for indirect research costs

After months of negotiations with the university community, the Government of Ontario has announced the first awards under its $30-million Research Performance Fund, created last year to cover the indirect costs of research funded by the province. Toronto area universities, teaching hospitals, research institutes and colleges received $14.5 million from the Fund, while Ottawa’s two universities — Carleton Univ and the Univ of Ottawa shared $2 million. A further $1.2 million was awarded to the Univ of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier Univ....
