OCAD receives university status

The Ontario College of Art & Design has become OCAD University. The status change officially recognizes the role of the institution's chancellor, modifies the power of the board of governors and creates an academic senate. University status caps the 134-year-old institution's evolution from an elite arts school formed by Canada's leading painters to a full-fledged university offering a studio-based education....
