NRC teams with DND for three IT projects

The National Research Council's Institute for Information Technology (IIT) and Canadian Forces Base Gagetown are collaborating on three R&D projects in support of Gagetown's new Immersive Reflexive Engagement Trainer facility. The two-year projects are valued at $2.6 million with NRC and the Department of National Defence contributing 60% and 40% respectively. The projects are: Laser Interface and Cognitive Modeling (simulations of the cognitive activity of soldiers engaged in combat training), Speech-based and Multimodal Interaction (training applications) and Augmented Reality Tag technology (use of markers and computer vision to align a virtual camera with a real one)....
