New Drug Discovery Unit established in Montreal

A Drug Discovery Unit (DDU) has been created at the Univ of Montreal to accelerate the development of medications for the marketplace. The DDU is a novel collaboration between the Univ of Montreal's Institute for Research in Immunology, the University Research Group on Drug Discovery and the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital Research Centre. More than 800 researchers in 75 teams are involved in the DDU which aims to establish partnerships with public and private sector stakeholders. An initial research agreement with Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. is scheduled to run for three years to identify new therapeutic agents. The firm will supply the lead compounds….
