New CANARIE president announced

Guy Bujold has been appointed president and CEO of CANARIE — a posting he accepted before being named interim president of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA). Bujold will take over from Dr Andrew Bjerring on October 1st after his CSA term expires.

Bujold is a veteran senior federal bureaucrat who has worked at Industry Canada, Finance Canada, Health Canada, Canadian Coast Guard, Treasury Board Secretariat and Infrastructure Canada.over a 32-year career. Most recently, he was assistant DM responsible special projects and in 2006-7, he oversaw development of the new federal S&T Strategy.

Bujold holds a Masters degree in economics from York Univ.

Bjerring, who has helped lead CANARIE since its inception in 1993, planned to leave on or before March 31/08, but agreed to stay on another six months.
