Neptune files IPO and licenses technology

Montreal’s Neptune Technologies and Bioresources Inc is close to completing an initial public offering to extract and process large amounts of krill oil, which will be used for medical research by sister firm, Neptune Krill Oil Inc. The firm’s CEO is Henri Garland, formerly VP business development for Algene Biotechnologies Corp. The firms has also recently licensed technology from the Univ of Sherbrooke. The technology, developed by Adrien Beaudoin of the university’s faculty of sciences, allows for extractions for the purification of oils, proteins, enzymes and other extracts from seals and other marine mammal tissues...
