NCIT assumes management of ORNEC

The National Capital Institute of Telecommunications (NCIT) is taking over the administration of the Ontario Research Network for Electronic Commerce (ORNEC), a consortium of four universities and corporate partners for electronic commerce research in the province. The expansion of NCIT’s research focus comes at a time when the organization seeks to re-invent itself before its original funding commitment expires. The original contract with the Ontario R&D Challenge Fund has been extended to September/05. ORNEC was founded in 2002 by McMaster Univ, Carleton Univ, the Univ of Ottawa and Queen’s Univ to focus on interdisciplinary research including communications technologies, business and administration research and legal and ethical issues. Expansion from its original stakeholders never occurred....
