Montreal's hospital centres to develop common platforms

Montreal's three university hospital centres are pooling infrastructure to develop common technology platforms in areas considered key to enhancing their share of research talent and funding. The agreement was struck between the McGill University Health Centre, the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) and CHU Saint-Justine. They will focus on establishing technology platforms for livestock and transgenics, genetics-genomics-proteomics-metabolomics, human and animal macroscopic imagery, immune- response measurement and vaccines testing, biobanks (DNA, cells, tissues, organs) and clinical data banks. The Centres see the collaborative agreement as essential to combat competition from Toronto, Vancouver and large US centres....
