Metabolix sets up R&D operations in Saskatoon

Metabolix Inc has established operations in Saskatoon at the National Research Council's Plant Biotechnology Institute (PBI) to tap into the region's R&D expertise and infrastructure. The Cambridge MA-based developer of bio-based plastics, fuels and chemicals will locate at PBI's Industrial Partnership Facility — a research incubator that opened in 2002 and now houses 12 companies. Metabolix will be examining the feasibility of utilizing plant-derived plastics and bioproducts in its future product offerings….
