McGill appoints Dr. Shari Baum to develop strategic research directions at the Faculty of Medicine

McGill University has appointed Dr. Shari Baum to Vice Dean, Life Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine. Baum was the founding director of McGill’s Centre for Research on Brain, Language, and Music, and co-chairs the Faculty of Medicine’s Committee for the Oversight of Shared Research Resource Facilities and the Standing Committee on Research. In her new role, Baum will lead the development and implementation of strategic research directions and policies for the Faculty, focusing on the Strategic Research Plan of the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry. She will also oversee the major research units, including the Goodman Cancer Research Centre and the Innovation Centre, and will advise the VP-Dean’s office on research-related pursuits. Baum is replacing Dr. Philippe Gros, who left the role to become Deputy Vice-Principal (Research and Innovation).
