Maurizio Bevilacqua (Vaughan-King-Aurora ON) has been appointed secretary of state for science, research and development, replacing Dr Gilbert Normand, who no longer holds a Cabinet position. Bevilacqua was first elected in 1988 and has been re-elected four times. He served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Human Resources Development and to the Minister of Labour.
