ISTPCanada launches India collaboration fund

International Science and Technology Partnerships Canada (ISTPCanada) has launched the first Canada-India S&T Cooperation Fund in conjunction with India's Global Innovation and Technology Alliance. The fund is the first of three funds planned with India, China and Brazil and is modelled after projects funded under the longstanding Canada-Israel Industrial Research and Development Foundation. A joint call for proposals has been issued for bilateral projects in the areas of alternate energy and sustainable environmental technologies, biotechnology, health research and medical devices, earth sciences and disaster management, information and communications technologies and nanoscience/ nanotechnology. Each project must have at least one industry participant from Canada and India and lead to a new product or process with commercial potential. Canada will fund up to 50% of eligible national costs up to a maximum of $600,000.
