Guelph seeks new agbiotech funding

The City of Guelph has formed a committee to improve its chances for securing a portion of a $30-million funding envelope for the life sciences sector announced by the Ontario government in its last budget (R$, June 21/02). The Guelph Partnership for Innovation is part of a larger municipal initiative to create an agricultural biotechnology cluster in the area. Toronto, Ottawa and London have already received provincial funding to establish biotech incubators in their respective regions and Guelph is looking to ensure that it is not overlooked when the new funding becomes
