Grain producers renew support for crop research

The Western Grains Research Foundation (WGRF) has renewed a 10-year funding agreement that will provide $9 million to the Univ of Saskatchewan’s Crop Development Centre. Funding by the WGRF – representing a wide variety of agricultural producers across the Prairies – comes from its producer-funded Wheat and Barley Check-off Funds program. It will focus the funding for breeding programs to develop new strains of wheat and barley to maintain competitiveness against countries such as the US, Australia and others….
