Genome BC receives $68 million in funding

Genome BC has finally completed research and funding agreements necessary to receive matching funding from Genome Canada. The provincial node of the national genomics network has lined up funding for five research projects worth $68 million, which will proceed under the leadership of recently installed president and CEO Dr Alan Winter. Genome Canada is contributing $34 million with the remainder secured from a variety of BC funding envelopes.

The five research projects selected by Genome BC are: Genomics Research on Atlantic Salmon Project (acquculture); Cancer Genomics (health); The Nematode as a Model Organism (environment); Forestry Genomics (forestry); and, Microbial Envirogenomics (environment).
