FPTT signs on as Flintbox channel partner

Federal Partners in Technology Transfer (FPTT) has signed on as a channel partner to Flintbox, a national network for licensing and reporting on early-stage research. Launched in 2003 as a spin-off from the Univ of British Columbia (UBC), the online application has focused primarily on universities, providing training and learning materials for institutions that sign on. The FPTT agreement is the first to involve federal laboratories and agencies, providing a centralized access point where researchers can disseminate and license innovations, research methods and discoveries. Flintbox is currently installed at about 35 Canadian universities, seven US universities and organizations such as WestLink Innovation Network and the BC Cancer Agency. To date, more than 700 projects have been posted resulting in the issuing of almost 4,000 technology licences. Flintbox is managed by UBC Research Enterprises, a wholly owned subsidiary of UBC.
