Five Alberta research teams receive $25 million

Five research teams have received a total of $25 million in the second interdisciplinary Team Grants competition recently held by the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research (AHFMR). The Team Grants model is designed to accelerate health R&D in the province by funding teams to tackle research challenges in priority areas. The five winning teams are: Smart Neural Prostheses to Restore Motor and Sensory Function; Alberta Inflammatory Bowel Disease Consortium; Interactions, Interdisciplinary Chronic Disease Collaboration; Understanding and Treating Diastolic Heart Failure, and the Alberta Sepsis Network. The AHFMR's $50-million Team Grants program is supported by $17 million from the Alberta Health and Wellness ministry....
