Feds fund logistics border institute at Univ of Windsor

The Univ of Windsor and the City of Windsor have received $19.9 million in federal funding to establish an Institute for Border Logistics and Security (IBLS) ($7.3 million) and build a multi-modal cargo terminal at the Windsor International Airport with the aim of establishing a Windsor-Detroit logistics corridor ($12.6 million). The funding was provided by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario. The IBLS will include an on-campus R&D facility offering support services to new and existing companies, as well as a 1,000-sq-m facility at the airport where UW researchers can test new technologies in collaboration with small- and medium-sized businesses….
