Dr Santa Ono

Dr Santa Ono has been appointed president and vice-chancellor of the Univ of British Columbia. Ono comes to UBC from the Univ of Cincinnati where he served as president and previously senior VP academic affairs and provost. He replaces interim president Dr Martha Piper, who agreed to take the helm following the abrupt departure of Dr Arvind Gupta last August. Piper is retiring June 30 and will be replaced in an interium capacity by Dr Dave Farrar until Ono takes up his official duties August 15. An accomplished cellist, Ono is a Vancouver native whose father was a professor at UBC's mathematics department. He earned his PhD in experimental medicine from McGill Univ before moving to the US....
