Dr Randy Goebel has been appointed president and CEO of Alberta’s Information Circle of Research Excellence (iCORE), replacing founding president Dr Brian Unger. Goebel is a professor at the Univ of Alberta and chair of its department of computing science. He comes to iCORE from a sabbatical in Kuala Lampur where he has been working on a joint R&D project involving the Malaysian government, Multi-Media Univ and Net-linx, a software firm. MIV Therapeutics Inc has appointed Dr Dean-Mo Liu as chief scientist, drug delivery technologies. Liu comes to MIV from the Univ of British Columbia where he helped develop an original patent for hydroxyapatite coating technologies to which MIV holds exclusive rights. He is considered an expert in the creation of advanced synthesis methods for porous ceramics and their formulations for many biomedical and other scientific applications.
