Dr Peter Liu

Dr Peter Liu has been appointed scientific director of the Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health (ICRH), one of 13 institutes comprising the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. Liu is currently director of the Univ of Toronto's centre of excellence in cardiovascular research and the Heart & Stroke/Polo Chair of medicine and physiology. He is a graduate of the Univ of Toronto, receiving a doctorate in medicine in 1978. Liu is a major proponent of knowledge translation. His areas of interest include the translation of heart failure investigation through clinical trials and health services research, as well as inflammatory and immune mechanisms of cardiovascular disease. He replaces Dr Bruce McManus, ICRH's inaugural scientific director....
