Dr Nick Busing has been appointed president and CEO of the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC), effective October 15. Busing is a professor and departmental chair of family medicine at the Univ of Ottawa and currently co-chairs a task force entitled “A Human Resource Strategy for Physicians in Can-ada). In the past he was chair of the Canadian Medical Forum and president of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Busing takes the reins at the AFMC as it moves to implement a new strategic plan, aimed in part at producing health scientists who will generate new knowledge through research to improve health. Its strategic priorities include educational innovation, health research, sustainability of medical schools and the development of a physician and health scientist workforce.

Veris Health Sciences has appointed Jean-Maurice St Onge as VP of its Veris Medical Research subsidiary. He will be responsible for establishing protocols and a research framework for two other subsidiaries, Veris Ocular Sciences and Veris Aesthetics. St Onge has 22 years of experience in clinical trials management in North America and Europe. Veris Medical Research conducts clinical trials for large and pharmaceutical firms....
